st his index finger, then his index finger and thumb, like a “hand gun” — then he flipped me off, without the thumb, and then added the thumb for extra emphasis. After that he stuck his middle finger and index finger, but took back the thumb, then stuck the thumb again.
If you’re doing this on your own and you’re a geek you’ll realize that you’re actually counting. The interesting thing is that now you can actually count all the way up to 32 on one hand. And if you use all ten fingers, you can count up to 1023–and every single combination of up and down fingers can be represented by a single number. It’s binary counting–a very geeky thing to do.
4 for instance is flipping someone off. Not so nice. Giving a “Gig ‘em” would be #1, but a “Guns up” would be #3 (heh) — “Hook ‘em Horns” would be 18. Just shows you who’s number one.
As you’ve probably guessed, if you make the sign language for “I Love You” - (pinky, index and thumb sticking out), you get 19.
When I proposed to Andrea 4 and a half years ago, I gave her 19 roses. I think our “19th” Anniversary will be bigger than our 20th and I think we’ll sign little notes with “19″ from now until we can’t write.
So, here’s to “19″ catching on.
