My life seems to have a lot of things coming to an end all at the same time.

Things such as:

  • TPCS: My work project will be “ending” in the next 2 to 3 weeks. I’ve been on this same project for the last year and a half and I will be very thankful to finish it up!
  • BLASP: My studio should be fully functional in the next month, which means we can begin work on the next Green Letters album soon.
  • Pathways: As I mentioned in an earlier blog, this part of our lives has come to a close, with other doors getting ready to be flung open.
  • Hard nights
  • Crazy Schedules
  • 3 years of marriage
  • Our first year in our first house
  • 26 years on this earth.

So there you go. Lots of endings happening, all of them good in one way or another.

Then don’t click this link. All the news on all the interesting (or infamous) shows on in the recent past. It gives some props to my favorite show. All in all, a neat site with all the news that’s fit to print watch.

A good thing for me to learn.

I, like my father, have a very difficult time saying “no” to people, especially when I don’t want to disappoint them. As a result, I end up failing them, and failing myself (the promise I made). So, in the spirit of learning how to say “No”, here you go.

Effective for numbers? Yes. Useful in some respects? Yes.

But, in reality : Not the point.

Last night, our church plant got shut down by the CMA. Mike felt that God was calling him to take a step back because we’re not in a place to go full throttle. It’s true. We don’t have the gifts to really, really plant a church–but we did. It was 7 people, but we planted a church.

It’s sad, but really, it’s wonderful. It has been a great 2 years in our lives–and we have every intention of taking the next step and helping with another church plant in the area. As do the Demchsak’s. We’re totally ready for it now. We know what NOT to commit to, and what TO commit to.

As the article says, we want our church to grow organically. The only way we could be called a failure is if we failed to love one another. I can say that I loved the Demchsaks, the Purnomos, Chris, and all of the kids. I can say that I didn’t love enough. I want to love more, and I want to reserve more of my energy for loving people, encouraging people, and being there for people rather than planning events, and looking at numbers.

Time to take a step back. And two steps forward.
