We just signed a contract for a new 2-story house. Very cool, indeed. 4 bedrooms, 1432 SQ Feet, nice Kitchen (great for our needs), 4 trees in the back yard, and a low HOA fee ($13/mo). We close (fingers crossed) on May 28th.
Oh, and Andrea is feeling the baby kicking!

Just signed up for a Gmail account, which is *pretty* spiffy, I might add. 1000 MB of messages, great for a good junkmail. I’ll be getting rid of all of my yahoo and hotmail accounts (or at least phasing them out… they’re so full of spam).
We’re also looking at another house, which is cool. One looks good. I think we might make an offer on it today.

We were under contract for this great house, and then… the SELLER pulled out. Our Realtor said that this was a one in thousands chance of that happening. Now we’re looking for a house that’s got some better options, even if it costs a little more.
Sheesh.

The Special Education in schools is shameful. Not because the teachers don’t try to do a good job. They do. But because of the fact that everything is based on numbers that a governmental agency can quickly glance at, rather than being based on what’s actually going on in kids lives. Got a kid that can’t pass the TACS? Stick ‘em in Sp. Ed. And leave them there forever. When it should be “Got a kid that could pass the TACS? Give ‘em a shot, encourage them. And have Special Ed’s goal be to get them out, rather than all the other teachers just trying to keep them away…

So, we just got the loan locked in, at 5.125, and all told, we’re about to go into debt by more than I make in a year… <yoda>a slave I am becoming!</yoda> We’ll be closing on the House on May 17th, which is great, so I’m excited about all that!
I’m also realizing that we’ll have about $1000 of usable money left in the bank after all this, which means that that’s the entire budget for decoration of the house. We’ll also be selling the Washer and Dryer that are currently at the house for $250, so if you want it, let me know!
I expect to add to the house :
2 couches from Goodwill : $150
1 Card table and 4 chairs : $100
5 sets of Curtains/Material for the windows : $200
Random Kitchen Decor/Dishes : $200
A tablecloth : $50
Computer Chair : $120
Random Odds and Ends : $150
And that’s the end of it… ahh, what it takes to own a house.

So I found out why the house has all the furniture in it and is so cheap : the previous tenant DIED in the house, and nobody knew for a few weeks.
I still think that’s a little creepy–not unmanageable, but creepy. Andrea really likes the house, and it could be really cool, but *shiver*.
Maybe this will become the “haunted” blog.
